The Keeper of Wildflowers presents the peacock not as a spectacle, but as a quiet presence within a flourishing meadow. Surrounded by upward-reaching stems and clusters of violet, coral, blue and gold, the bird appears both guardian of and belonging to the garden. Dense, tactile strokes of oil pastel animate the feathers and blooms, while the open ground above gives the composition a sense of air and poise. The work reflects nature as a realm of abundance, dignity and intimate enchantment.
